“Wool Yarn”
12" x 12"
(2010). Original design.
Cotton fabric, water soluble crayons, cotton threads, interfacing, cotton batting. Thread sketched, free-motion machine quilted.

This is a study in texture with thread. The yarn balls and knitting needles are fabric, with details done with thread, and some coloring and shading added with water soluble crayons.

I created this piece as a sample for an article I wrote for the June/July issue of Quilting Arts magazine called “Thread Sketching 101, Lesson 3: Focus on Texture.”
