“Pink Rose”
8.5" x 8.25"
(2010). Original design.
White cotton fabric, acrylic fabric paint, cotton threads, cotton batting. Wholecloth painted quilt, machine quilted.

I made this little quilted piece for Virginia Spiegel’s ToteTuesday fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Peggy Schroder coordinated several totes, and asked me to participate. I did so in honor of my mother, a breast cancer survivor.

It went up for auction on February 23, 2010, and sold in the first four minutes, raising $350. The purchaser, artist and collector Tomme Fent, purchased it “in honor of Virginia Spiegel for her dedication and creativity in raising funds through FiberArt For a Cause.”
